What Causes Hot Flashes And Breathing Difficulty Post Pneumonia Treatment?
58 year old male, 250 lbs, for the last 8 weeks he has feelings of being very hot that lasts for hours(but has had no fever and does not sweat) , not able to sleep, difficulty breathing, and shaking. Recently diagnoses with mycoplasm pneumonia by blood cultures in ER. Doctor gave the all clear yesterday. As a precaution doctor set up a cardiologist appointment this morning, he coded while having an EKG. The girl performed CPR and revived him, Emergency Heart Cath gave a an all clear report. Any ideas???
I would explain that his symptoms could be related to an infection or a metabolic disorder.
For this reason, I would recommend performing another blood bacterial culture and a urine bacterial culture. It is also necessary for checking CRP and ESR for inflammation.
I would also recommend performing thyroid hormone levels in order to exclude a possible thyroid gland dysfunction.
In the meantime, I would recommend to closely monitor blood pressure values.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
