What Causes Hot Flashes With Excessive Sweating During Post Menopausal Phase?

I am a 60 yr old woman who has been experiencing hot flashes and night sweats for the past few weeks. I am post menopausal for several years and had hot flashes years ago, but none in the recent past... now they are suddenly back and much worse! What could be going on?? Thank you.

hello, welcome to healthcaremagic.

the most common cause of hot flushes in post menopausal phase is oestrogen excess in our body.

oestrogen is a hormone which is responsible for menstrual cycles in menses phase of life.
later on it causes osteoporosis and hot flushes.

if the flushes are not worse, you could wait upon them, as they resolve spontaneously most a times.
however, i advice you to consult an OBGYN, because hot flushes means your body is undergoing changes of menopause and you will then need HRT(hormone replacement therapy).
