What Causes Hypersensitivity To Sounds?

My husband is hypersensitive to sounds such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, leaf blower. He cannot be outside when these sounds are going on and gets extremely stressed out. He can wear ear-mufflers or his ipod to partially block the sound but then he can t hear anything else. Is there any kind of an aid that blocks those sounds that are in the low register but not necessarily the others?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Which type of stress he is experiencing ? giddiness or fall ? Or just can't tolerate? Does he have any ear problem?

As such cause is obvious, first thing is always to avoid loud sound energy, use ear muffs.

There are so many conditions that causes such phenomenon. Next Step:

1. Thorough physical examination.
2. Audiometry
3. Imaging sos

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
