Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking metoprolol tartrate 25 mg twice a day for AFib and I believe it is making me anxious but my doctor does not think it is the medication. I only feel anxious after I take the medication. I am also on amlodipine-benazepril 10-40 mg for high BP. Is there a more benign medication I can substitute for metroprolol?
HI Well come HCM I really appreciate your concern, I had gone through the history given here, there is many generic preparation available in substitute of Metoprolol but what the symptoms of anxiousness you have after taking this drug is not due to the chemical molecule that the drug has in it, but it seems to be functional condition that plays the role here and not the drug, and if you are comfortable with the change of drug then you can go for another brand or another molecules (Beta 1 Receptor Blocker ) any drug that belongs to this group will be okay, hope this information helps.
