What Causes Hypothyroidism After Treated For Graves Disease?
I have been treated for Graves disease. in 2007 I had TWO radioactive iodine treatments. I am on 75 mcg of synthroid a day and just had blood work drawn. Two weeks ago my TSH was at 2.3 and the other day I am almost 9. My dr wants to LOWER my synthroid????? is this right? I always thought you were to increase it. I am suffering from hypothyroid symptoms really bad and what can cause such a jump in my TSH in such a short period of time??
Welcome and thank you for asking! I have gone carefully through your concern. You are right, TSH level can not change for 1 or 2 days. One of the results is not right. If you were a patient in my clinic, i would recommend you to check the TSH level again and rhan to decide for the dose. It happens often that laboratory analysis are contradictory. A third opinion would help in these cases. Hope i was helpful. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
