What Causes Increased Body Heat After Taking Synthroid Tablet?

Hi. I was taking Synthroid 88mcg for several years----then suddenly I had weird reaction ...I felt tremendous heat all over my body....lasting 1/2-1hr. about twice a day for about a week. I started to decrease the amount before I saw my DR. and the symptoms went away. My MD decreased my dose now to 50mcg. Am I correct in assuming it was the over-dose of Synthroid or not? My e-mail: YYYY@YYYY Thank you....k.

Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern for the prescribed medication.
Increased body heat appears to be due to high dose of Synthyroid tablet.

In addition to increased body heat (excessive sweating, heat intolerance or fever) other side effects like rapid or irregular heartbeats, chest pain, shortness of breath, leg cramps, headaches, nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, tremors, a change in appetite, weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, changes in menstrual periods, hives, or a skin rash can be the symptoms of too much medicine (Synthroid) in your body.

Since the symptoms subsided after reducing the dose from 88 mcg to 50 mcg, continue to take the medication.

Hope this answers your query.
