What Causes Increased Discharge, Itching, Soreness And Redness In Vagina?

A few weeks ago I experienced increased discharge, itchiness, soreness and redness of the vagina I believed to to be a yeast infection I took Monistat and within a day felt better. The same symptoms have returned now a few weeks latter. This time the discharge seems to be slightly yellow. I have had the same sex partener during both occurrences but have also been with other partners. Is it safe to take Monistat again. The clitoris is also very sore and swollen.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It can be due to infections like bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection.

As the first line of management, you can go for a vaginal swab to make a diagnosis.

As of now, you can take antihistamines like Pheniramine for itching and use Clotrimazole lotion to cleanse your genitals.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
