What Causes Increased Panic Attacks After Childbirth?
well im 32 and i have been dealing with panic attacks. they were mild before i had a child and now i have 2-3 attacks a day. i take xanax but i do not want to take it anymore. i have been to emergency room and the doc said i needed to see a nerololgist to have some tets done but my regular doc says no. why do i have these attacks and how do i make them go away. also, i will get out with some friends and will have a few beers and will wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing and the worst panic attack ever, i feel like im going to pass out. please help with a second opinion.
Xanax gives only temporary relief and is habit forming. Anti-depressant medicines usually give relief from Panic Disorder. Evidence shows that combination of medicines and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy gives good long term results. You should consult a psychiatrist. He may decide to put you on an anti-depressant and a medicine that would give immediate relief (something in the class of Xanax). Later he will try to maintain you only on anti-depressant. He will also counsel you about your condition. Hope this answer is helpful.
