What Causes Infected Hair Follicles On Scalp?

I have been having a lot of infected hair follicles in my scalp. Like around 50 or more, they are very painful like touching a nerve end. I have been diagnosed with having hep c. No Idea how long I ve had it. I have noticed my right arm pit has a two to three inch lump in it. The dr s in Montana don t seem to care. My urine is very strong smelling, lab show increased creatning and liver enzymes but the Dr s say they ve seem worse. I have had over ten back and neck operations one having a staph infection getting into the interthecal space, but that was years ago. Not sure what to do. Have pain pump diludid, clonidine, bupivicane. Help

After interpreting your query I can make a possibility of “recurrent folliculitis". Folliculitis is a dermatological entity where there is recurrent infection of the hair is seen.

It can be because of multiple causes and even some times internal disease state is the most common cause of the problem. Most of the times it can be also due to a series of multiple medication which are been used for the treatment of the other problem.

I can see in your case you have both internal problems as well hepatitis C positive status which can hamper with your good immune system.


Generally for your kind of episodes I prefer to give oral antibiotics after culture and sensitivity. I suggest you to meet your family physician and get earliest best treatment.
