What Causes Infection In Bowel And Bladder?

Hi. I have a friend in the hospital who has been told that she has infection of the bladder and bowel. She thinks they called it sistyc , but not sure of the spelling. We have to gown, and glove to visit because it is contagious. What is this and how does one get this. She has had this 2 months in a row and the first time they came up with NO diagnosis. She has been in the hospital, now the 5th day, on IV, no food by mouth and won t be going home for a few more days.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your friend in the hospital who has been told she has infection in the bladder and bowel, you have to put on a gown and gloves to visit her.
The thing is called systemic infection and hence she is admitted. This means the infection has spread to all over body with its bad effects and also called septicemia or bacterimia.
You have to put on gowns and gloved to avoid your infection going to the patient who's immunity is very low and can contract such bacterial or fungal infection that can be very serious for the patient.
