Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I woke up with an intense headache and nausea. I had had acid reflux a day before and had anti acid to cure it. I didn t have a proper meal when I went to sleep, which probably indicates that I went to sleep on an empty stomach. Could this have been the cause for the headache and nausea?
Hello I share your concern Not taking food before sleep may cause hypoglycemia ( low blood sugar level) which may cause headcahe and nausea.
Another possibility is Migraine or vascular headache
Here, I would like further information for better assessment like your age, and relevant medical history had you ever have such headache in past are you having dizziness or vision problems?
I would advise you to take glucose water if you are not diabetic otherwise take acetaminophen with antiemetic like domperidone. hope this help you Best wishes
