I am 26yrs of age... I have had my period for appx 7 days it completely stopped by the 9th day. It s 4 days later and I m bleeding again bright red.. Is something wrong? I haven t had sex over a month unlike most of these (women) post.... Is it that I m stressed?
Definitely, once a while, irregular bleeding during the menstrual cycle, is very much normal and usually does not need any specific treatment. Also, you are right that anxiety or stress may also cause irregular bleeding during the cycle. However, in the present case of yours, it may be ovulatory bleeding. It generally occurs in about 5% of the menstruating females.
This bleeding occurs due to sudden fluctuations of estrogen and progesterone levels during ovulation. Ovulation occurs on 14th day of cycle in a 28 day cycle. The ovulatory bleeding generally persists for 12-48 hours and usually stops itself. Usually this bleeding is very light in the form of spotting and may be mixed with cervical fluid or cervical mucus. Usually, this bleeding is not a matter of concern and particularly, if it is a light bleeding.
