Inter menstrual bleeding can be caused due to implantation, hormonal imbalance, ovarian cyst, thyroid dysfunction, weight issues, etc. Get clinically examined by a gynecologist and get urine test for pregnancy done. You can get blood test (beta hCG) done to detect if you are pregnant.
If pregnant you will be managed accordingly. If not, you will be given medicines to induce menstruation. If you are not planning for a baby you should be on regular contraceptive pills. In case you had unprotected sex then you should take emergency contraceptive pills within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. CP will protect you from pregnancy but not from STI. You should use condoms for safe sex practice.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
