What Causes Intermittent Pain In Upper Abdomen?

I am a 39 year old female with major health issues, except recently I have been having pains in my upper abdominal area. I have never felt any pain like this before. It s dull pain and comes in waves. I am not pregnant and had my tubes tied 7 years ago. I do not have a fever but I am a little nausea.
