What Causes Intermittent Soreness In The Throat And Clogged Left Ear?

What can cause a sore throat on one side of the throat that lasts for more than one month and is not constant. Throat might feel fine for a week at a time but then starts to hurt again in the afternoons or sometimes in the morning after being up for awhile. Left ear also feels clogged frequently and a lump or pressure, full feeling in the center of the neck.

Feeling of lump in the throat could be due to chronic pharyngitis,gastroesophageal reflux disease,thyroiditis,tumors in throat and anxiety.One of the most common cause is anxiety itself(globus pharyngeus).The clogging sensation in ear can also be due to throat pathology.This condition is diagnosed by excluding other causes of lump in the throat.Examination of throat by a specialist helps to rule out other conditions.The treatment of globus pharyngeus involves reassurance and psychiatry councelling.
