What Causes Internal Pain In The Left Side Of The Stomach?

Hello, I know this is a gross topic.. but are white portions (full sections not flecks or mucus) within stool something to be concerned about? I ve struggled with a fluctuating internal pain on my left side for many many years (I m currently 24 and have had this problem since I was about 7) and I m wondering if this is possibly related or something I should be worried about. Thank you for any advice and/or assistance

It sounds like you have symptoms of IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. It was previously called "mucous colitis". If you are generally well and have no bleeding there is probably no concern at this time. I would try adding fiber to my diet , maybe metamucil 1 tsp daily at breakfast , or a high fiber cereal . That may help the symptoms. If not ,I would check with your primary care MD
