What Causes Involuntary Twitch Above The Lip?

Yes, I just noticed that I have an involuntary twitch above my lip (on my left smile line between my nose and my lip). It appears to indent and then go back to normal. I have never had this before and am wondering why it has suddenly started. It s been going on for about 5 min. now. Thanks

Hi,

The commonest cause of such involuntary twitching above the upper lip can be related to a condition called facial tics.
The usual cause is anxiety and stress.
it is better to get the clinical evalaution, examiantion and necessary investigations.
If the reports are normal then have consultation with a proper Doctor for counselling, medications and further proper followup.
This is not serious but still needs evaluation of a facial nerve, ENT Check up to see if everything is fine or not.
Proper medications can keep this well controlled.
Avoid stress and anxiety.
Keep yourself well hydrated and have proper electrolyte balance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
