Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband's heart is beating loudly and seems to be beating irregularly. I took his blood pressure and it was normal. His heart rate was 102bpm. He also has an urge to cough periodically. He's had these episodes happen before and the cough has helped at times. Do we need to be concerned? His father died from heart disease and started having an irregular heart beat when he was 35.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
After going through your medical details I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that considering his symptoms and family medical history of heart disease he might be facing cardiac rhythm disease which needs proper evaluation to avoid life threatening events. It's recommended for you to get an ECG, echocardiography and a HOLTER (ambulatory ECG Monitoring) done for minimum 48 hours and consult a Cardiologist for further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
