What Causes Irregular Periods While Being Sexually Active?

I am 50 and have had irregular periods for a few months now and before when I had my periods I could feel my egg I guess down below before I had my period. But now I don t have this happening so my husband and I decided to begin unprotected sex seeing I have no periods now for a couple of months now there is no chance of getting pregnant

Hi,

Well, in the current scenario, your chances of conception are relatively poor considering your age and the likely chances of failed ovulation around menopause. It is more likely to be a hormone disturbance that has caused the absence of the menstrual period.

However, it is proper to exclude pregnancy since you are having unprotected intercourse. A HPT, a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route and a hormone assay are needed. Further management can be planned accordingly.
