hi doc am 46 yrs old i missed my period last December 2017 then came bak end of Jan 2018 then after this i had my menstruation in february and had been continuos since then but recently it became heavy that i need to change my sanitary napkins like every 3 hours? By the way last March i consulted a gen practicioner and ask about my condition and he mentioned that it was normal at my age due to perimenopausal stage I feel i need to go and consult a gynecologist... but do you have an idea what is the possible cause pf my irregular period . This is my first time to encounter this
At this age you are in the perimenopausal group so irregular periods can be explained as your doctor said. However you need to do few hormone tests (FSH, TSH) and a trans vaginal scan just to rule out few issues of concern.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
