Hello, and I hope I can help you today.
Noriday is one brand of the class of birth control pills called
progesterone only pills or POp's. POP's generally do not produce regular menstrual periods, as there is a constant dose of hormones all month long rather than
estrogen containing birth control pills, which are designed to give you a monthly menstrual cycle.
However the one thing you should be aware of is that POP's are much less effective than
combined oral contraceptives, being only about 92% effective in preventing
pregnancy. If you are breast-feeding, the hormones that cause your body to make milk also inhibit ovulation to some degree so in breast-feeding women POP's are about as effective as combined cyclic oral contraceptives.
However, irregular bleeding is not unusual as a side effect of the pills that you are taking and is not cause for concern.
I hope that I was able to adequately answer your question today, and that this information was reassuring.
Best wishes,
Dr. Brown
