What Causes Irritation And White Discharge During Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 35 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow, I have been sexually active throughout my pregnancy only 1 time. I got checked for Chlamydia, Syphilis, & HIV at my OB but they didn t check me for anything else (that I know of). I have been very itchy in my vagina area, between the lips. Been that way for about the last 2 months, told my OB & he said that it s probably just swollen & irritated because I m 15 so it s not stretching & stuff. Well today, I was having the irritation & pain a lot more frequently. I used a magnifying mirror to look down there since I can t see over my baby belly, & it looked like a white peeling skin, I couldn t really notice any bumps. & my discharge is a thick white which my OB said that was normal for pregnancy. Could you help me understand what it could be? Because every time I call my OB, the nurse is always busy & never calls me back. It s like a white rash, just without the bumps. Helpppp???

Hello young mother-to-be and welcome.

It quite clearly sounds like you have some underlying infectikn which needs to be addressed by your doctor. If your doctor thinks nothing of it, you could consult another doctor just for help with the infection. In the meantime, please make sure you drink plenty of water and maintain good personal hygiene (changing your inner wear regularly, etc.).
