What Causes Irritation Around Penis Tip After Unprotected Sex?

Hi, Around 5 weeks ago had unprotected sex with a casual partner. A day later I started to notice some irritation on and around tip of my penis when brushing against my underwear. Over the next 3 weeks I had 2 lots of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests (which were extremely painful, more info below), and also had a bacterial swab to check for other infection. Everything has come back as negative. Since then I have had a GP misdiagnose thrush - she gave me some cream but nothing changed. I then had a GP prescribe daktacort which I have been applying three times daily, but while it is quite nice to apply at the time, it hasn't solved the issue. I can see that the irritation is caused by a very slightly raised mark to the left hand side of the tip of my penis. This also goes into the urethra on the left hand side which means that sometimes it feels a bit 'tight' to pee. It also explains why having the sex tea My biggest concern however currently is that when I cough heavily, pass wind or pass stools that there is a sharp pain on the inside of my penis shaft on the left hand side. All of the above is really starting to worry me, particularly as no one can identify the issue and also because I fly out on holiday to visit my girlfriend tomorrow. I have done everything 'by the book' and am getting nowhere! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

It is nice to know that tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea show negative reports. Presently after having unprotected sex with a casual partner you are continuing to have sharp pain in the inside of your penis. You also have pain and feel tightness when you pee. You are suggested to have urinalysis (R/E and C/S) and stool test done. Get clinically examined by a urologist to detect UTI, cystitis, urinary stones, lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), prostatitis, penile blood clot, hernia or penile cancer.

You can take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed to get relieve from discomfort and pain. Your treatment (with antibiotics, antivirals, biopsy, surgery) will depend on the pathology detected and severity of your clinical symptoms. Avoid sexual activity until the pain is gone to reduce your chance of injury and to avoid infecting your girlfriend. Avoid sexual activity with multiple partners. Always perform protected sex. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
