Hello,
Itchiness in the
labia minora is commonly due to poor hygiene. The vulva is prone to infection due to warmth and moisture. Itchiness is due to infection (BV, yeast infection,
vaginitis, etc), injury to the skin, allergy, STIs (
trichomoniasis), UTI, etc. Stay away from allergens like vaginal douching, lubricants, panty liners, nylon underwear, spermicides, etc. You can take antihistamines at bed time to ease discomfort.
Get clinically examined, Get
Urinalysis (R/E and C/S) and STD tests done. If UTI, infections or STIs are detected you will be treated with antibiotics and anti-virals. Stay well hydrated, drink plenty of water, apply
hydrocortisone ointment after a bath on the area affected. In case of yeast infection, you will be treated with an oral course of anti-fungals. Avoid sex for a couple of days if sexually active.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
