Allergist and Immunologist 's  Response
Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions for you as follows:

1. When symptoms start around 3-4 am, it usually means that the allergen (the allergy causing substance) is within bed/bedroom. It takes some time for our immune system to react to allergen hence when you inhale that particular particles while entering bed room, your nose starts reacting after some time. Although the allergic reaction starts within a few minutes, you get peak effect that disturbs you sufficient to wake up in night after several hours.

2. I usually suggest my such patients regular montelukast and levocetirizine or fexofenadine before going to bed for minimum 2 weeks for symptoms relief.

3. I would suggest you allergy testing for indoor allergens - house dust mites, insect proteins, indoor molds and pet dander (if you have pets).

This will help you identify the substances causing allergies to you and also to know the measures to avoid them.

4. Based on allergy testing, an Allergist-Immunologist may prescribe you allergen specific immunotherapy which works on immune system to gradually improve your allergy symptoms.

5. In general, I would suggest you to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution for better respiratory health.

6. A healthy diet and regular breathing exercises will also help you in a long run by improving your immunity and lung capacity.

Hope above answer and suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
