What Causes Itching And A Rash Around The Anus?

I have just taken 9 days of Augmentin for a sinus infection,after previously taken azrithomycin(?sp) for same problem. I just returned from Bermuda and started having severe itching with a rash around my anus. I do not have any vaginal discharge. Area is very itchy with a rash.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Itching and rash around the anus may be due to hemorrhoids or yeast or fungal Infection or Thread worm infestation or proctitis etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. avoid moisture around anus. avoid soaps, lotions around the anus . use anti histamine medication ,get stools to be examined for ova and cysts. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
