Hello,

I can understand your concern. It seems that you are experiencing another episode of yeast/fungal infection in the vaginal area. You should take Fluconazole 150 mg (Fole) once a day for 5 days. You can extend this medication for 7-10 days in case symptoms persist after 5 days' course. In addition, you can topically apply Betnovate-C (Betamethasone Valerate + Clioquinol) cream 2-3 times a day for a week.

Do not wear tight fitting clothes and switch to cotton undergarments so the pelvic area can breathe. Restrict use of scented soaps, perfumes and do not spend too much time in bubble baths and hot tubs. As you might have contracted this infection during sexual intercourse, cultivate the habit of urinate after every sexual intercourse. This will help in preventing recurrent yeast infections. Drink lots of water. There is nothing much to worry about and you will be fine.

However, if you do not feel better in a week to 10 days, your vaginal swab should be sent for laboratory analysis for the type of infection, the microorganisms involved and the medicines that can work against them.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
