What Causes Itching And Dryness In Vagina?

I had an itch on my vagina where the penis goes in for around three days i have been applying vagisil to it. The itching almost stopped on the third day on the same spot but now it is itching around my clit. The itching has lessen massively. There is no discharge and no bad smell. Is this an infection or could it be a result of dryness or friction from sex.

Hi,

Your problem can be due to irritation from dryness pr chemicals like soaps you use. Avoid soaps to wash the genital area. Instead, you can use warm water and an intimate wash. Use mild detergents for underwear also. I also recommend using miconazole cream for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr. Harshita's  Response
Hi,

1. After unprotected sexual intercourse, there are a variety of things happen with your body if sexual hygiene is not maintained properly before and after sex.
2. The itch is probably due to some infection like a fungal infection or the trichomonal infection.
3. You have already applied Vagisil to it. but it won't take care of the infection properly.
4. So I would advise you to apply Clotrimazole vaginal gel twice a day for five days by the tube given inside with the ointment.
5. Tale tablet Fluconazole both partners.
6. Take antibiotic Azithromycin and tablet Ornidazole (this treatment to be taken just by you).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Infectious Diseases Specialist
