What Causes Itching And Irritation Inside Vagina?

Hello the last few times of having sexual intercourse with my boyfriend I have been left feeling very uncomfortable and irritated down below. I had a Chlamydia test which came back negative. The outside of my vagina is not itchy or irritated and is fine but it feels deep inside and an itch that I obviously can t reach. Thank you

Hello,

The most likely explanation for pain with intercourse and vaginal itching would be related to a yeast infection.

While we typically associate this problem with a white discharge, that is not always the case. This would be easy to treat over the counter with a yeast medication specifically for this purpose.

Other considerations are a reaction to the latex in condoms or a reaction to things like lubricants that you might be using.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Timothy Raichle
