What Causes Itching In Vagina?

Hi, I am an 18 year old diabetic and every now and then my vagina gets incredibly itchy and sore. For the last couple of days its been worse than ever. It is red and inflamed and bleeding (probably from the itching). I can barely walk because of the pain. Would be very appreciative of an answer to this problem!!
