What Causes Itching Insect Bites Turning To Boils?
I have several bites on my legs from some kind of insect. They started itching 7 then a couple turned into large boils. The same thing happened a month ago & my GP lanced them; gave me an antibiotic & put a large bandage on. What is this & what should I do about the current situation?
Welcome to HealthCareMagic and thank you for your question.
I've read your question and understand your concern.
Firstly you should know that what you are describing is not a serious health problem and in most cases it can be managed at home.
If i were your reating doctor for those insect bites I would prescribe an antihstaminic such as Claritine or Aerius (available over the counter) - once a day in the evening, coupled with a local antibiotic cream such as fusidic acid 2% with hydrocortisone 1% - Fucidin H, once a day as a thin application on the lesions.
Limiting the times you wash with soaps or shower gels to once a day could also prove helpful.
Keep track of your lesions and after 3 days if you do not see any improvement, please pay your local doctor a visit.
Also please note that the type of insect that has bit you is also important as they can be vectors for certain infectious diseases.
Hope my answer helped. Wish you fast recovery!
