Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Judging from the history, I will keep a possibility of
Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD) to an antiseptic solution (commonly
betadine solution) that you may be using to clean the wound Or a topical cream. Itching, swelling and redness being part of the dermatitis.
In my practice I have seen a lot of cases of ACD to betadine solution which is commonly used for wound cleaning and dressing. Topical OTC antibacterial e.g Neosprin too is quite notorious for causing
skin allergy.
If I was the treating doctor I would have tried to find out the implicating factor that would be causing this allergy.
Specific treatment for ACD would be twice daily application of a potent
steroid + antibiotic combination cream. It should be used outside the wound.
An oral antibiotic may simultaneously be started so as to prevent secondary bacterial contamination of the bite wound.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g
cetrizine would provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
