hello I m a 46 year old male and today...about an hour or an hour and a half ago perhaps...i thought my tongue was swelling up. I have no known allergies nor have any recollection of ever having an allergic reaction. Upon closer examination of my tongue I see that only one side is swollen...feels stuffed ...also, it is that side that feels itchy for lack of a better word. When I stick out my tongue and press it between my lips I can, again, tell it is only the one side that is swollen.I ate nothing out of the ordinary although the last thing I did eat before this happened was peanuts. I eat peanuts every day however.Any thoughts? Many thanks, Walter

What Causes Itchy And Swollen Tongue?
Hello, Your symptoms could be related to an allergic reaction. For this reason, if your situation worsens, I recommend going to the ER for a steroid shot. Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
