What Causes Itchy Coccyx Inspite Of Being On Mirena?
I recently had a Mirena coil for heavy periods. I m in my 50s. A few weeks after I started getting a very itchy coccyx, which if I scratch it also makes me lose bladder control. It all seems a bit bizarre and I m wondering if I need to take this coil out.
I can understand your concern. Itching in pelvic area indicates towarda a possibility of fungal infection.
You can take antifungal medication. Fluconazole 150 mg (Fole) once a day for 7-10 days should suffice. You can also apply Betnovate-C cream (Betamethasone Valerate + Clioquinol) 2-3 times a day.
If the itching does not stop in a week, then visiting a gynecologist is advised for physical examination and further investigations
