What Causes Itchy Eyes And Dry Throat After Taking Amoxicillin?

I m having itchy eyes and dry throat a couple days after starting amoxicillin. I had a root canal so they gave it to me. I end up scratching my eye a lot because it itches so much. I m also taking DayQuil and ibuprofen 600mg. I haven t taken anything today except for the amoxicillin and I m still having irritated eyes and dry mouth. Could this be an allergy to amoxicillin?

Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms of itchy eyes and dry throat is appearing to be probably due to allergic reaction to Amoxicillin..

If after stopping Dayquil and Ibuprofen if the symptoms are still present then it is most probably due to Amoxicillin..

So my suggestion is to stop taking Amoxicillin and consult your Dentist so that he can prescribe you some substitute antibiotics..

To reduce itching you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine, Benadryl, Allegra etc..

Do cool packs over the eyes..

To reduce dry mouth you can chew sugarfree chewing gums and drink plenty of water..
