What Causes Itchy Leaky Scalp Behind My Ears?

I have an itchy leaky scalp, behind my ears and bumps down my back. Benadryl stops the itch but it doesn t seem to be healing much. My doctor also prescribed amoxicillin and calamine lotion. Its been 5 days and there very little improvement. Does this mean that its not an allergic reaction or am I rushing the healing process???

Hello, from what you have described, the lesions could be an endogenous eczema like seborrheic dermatitis or allergic contact dermatitis to dyes.
In any of these cases, treatment depends on the severity and the evidence of secondary infection..Topical corticosteroids along with good antihistamines are the mainstay of the treatment. Clearly, the treatment plan doesnot include these and hence, improvement is minmal.
You need to visit a dermatologist, and not just a general physician for the diagnosis and management.
Thanks
Take care
