What Causes Itchy Vagina And Discharge?

Hi, I had the coil fitted about 4/5 months ago and bled for about 3/4 weeks after. I have not bled since then up until now. i am concerned because from last week I have been getting a blood stained discharge and I am very sore and itchy around my vagina. I have noticed today that I am bleeding from the skin on the affected area. I have also been having mild pains in my abdominal area, particularly a little more pain in the left side. I have had thrush and bacterial vaginosis in the past several timea but this feels different and I not aure if I should worry?

Dear Madam,

Missing a period after intrauterine device (IUD) should be taken seriously. IUD can prevent only the pregnancy in the uterine cavity but not outside the uterine cavity. Hence, ectopic pregnancy cannot be prevented by IUD.

Abdominal pain on the left side and bleeding are suggestive of ectopic pregnancy. This condition is an haemorrhagic emergency when it ruptures. So please do not waste time and report to your Gynaecologist ASAP.

Your other symptoms of discharge with itching over the vulva seems to be due to either Trichomonial or Yeast(Fungal) discharge. They can be easily treated by Metronidazole and Antifungal pessaries respectively. However, it can wait, your possibility of ectopic pregnancy has to be dealt with utmost priority. More than 3 months of ectopic pregnancy is quite advanced one. Madam, you may be sitting on the volcano. Please do not waste time.

I hope you will take the advice seriously and rush to the Gynaecologist.
