What Causes Joints Pain While On Remeron?

My mom is battling liver cancer and was prescribed remeron to stimulate her appetite. We have been on the drug since last Friday. Beginning last night, she is becoming agitated, joints are aching and she says she can t stand anything. she also take alprazolam for anxiety and amitripilene for neuropathic pain. She has been on the these two medications for several years with no negative effects. What do you think is causing this new level of anxiety? My mom is 82 years old

I'm sorry to hear your mom has been having some problems since starting Remeron.

Remeron can cause joint pains and agitation, and so, with the information you've given me, I would suspect Remeron is the cause of these new symptoms.

I would suggest contacting your doctor and possibly holding this medication to see if the symptoms resolve.
