What Causes Knot And Formation Of Pus At The Point Of Navel Piercing?

Hi. I have had my belly button pierced for awhile. I took it out and it started hurting this morning. I lifted my shirt and it had a knot where the rod went through my belly button. I looked at it and saw a little piece of something black in it. I pulled on it and it looked like a little black worm. Then I picked at the top of the old piercing and yellow puss come out of it. What could this be???

You might have developed an infection at the site of piercing .A short course of oral antibiotic like azithromycin might help along with topical antibacterial creams like mupirocin. You need to avoid pricking or fiddling with the site.Consult your dermatologist regarding the same. Regards.
