My 21 yr old son has no appetite at all.The only time he wants to eat is if he s been smoking weed and has the munchies . Why is this happening? He was in a wilderness camp for 11 month a few years back and ate real well, but his appetite has decreased more and more over the past couple of years.I m concerned. What could be causing this?He will eat mac & cheese during the middle of the night but that s about it.He s 6 3 and may weigh 170 lbs. soaking wet.
Hello, Welcome to healthcaremagic.com, Yes it is matter of concern that your son is 6'3" and weighs 170 lbs. It seems that he is underweight. This can be due to his smoking habit. As you told that he smokes weed. It is possible that along with weed he also smokes tobacco, as weed is usually smoked in joints made with tobacco. Hence tobacco causes weight reduction due to loss of appetite. Though at times he feel like eating which happens usually after smoking weed, as weed causes hyperphagia mainly for specific food items, in this case it can be for mac and cheese. I would recommend you that consult a specialist in de-addiction to help him quit his smoking habit of weed and tobacco. Also consult a dietician for his reduced diet, so that a diet plan can be made to increase his weight. Thank you.
