Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son, 25 Y.O., constantly struggles with a lack of focus, forgetfulness, and he's struggling to remember simple treatment protocols and regimens while on the job (he's an EMT). He's gifted as a writer but he struggles with science and math. He does not have health care insurance and thinks he's out of options. He's very concerned about potentially losing his job and ability to make a living and a life for himself. I've told him (Joshua) to go ahead and see what his employer (AMR) offers in the way of health care insurance and seek a neuro-psychiatric exam. Certainly I would hope his situation could be managed with medications because I strongly suspect ADD without the hyperactive component or possibly even autism to some degree. Am I on the right track in recommending the neuro-psychiatric exam?
