What Causes Large And Painful Bumps Along With Fatigue?

My friend has a lump under the skin that started out small like a mosquito bite and became large and painfull. He is also feels fatigue and in general just not feeling well. This has happened several times over the course of a few years. He says that it s just one that he gets and he has had them come up on different parts of his body. He s had one one his leg, groin area, behind his ear, and now he has one on the back of his arm. He went to the hospital and the gave him antibiotics and some pain meds. They did draw blood from him but no results back from that yet. Any ideas on what is going on with him?
