What Causes Left-sided Chest Pain During The Night?

I have been having a sharp pain on my chest for some time now. It happens usually at night while sleeping and I can t sleep on a left side when it is paining. Sometimes it becomes difficult for me to breath when it comes. I went for an x-ray but my chest is clear, I also did an ECG, but all seem normal. What could be my problem. I am a 36 year old man.
