What Causes Left-sided Head And Ear Pain Despite Taking Prednisone For A Sinus Infection?

I have been diagnosed with a sinus infection yesterday, which is primarily on the left side of my face. I have been given a 14 day dosage of doxycycline ( I am allergic to penicillin), in addition to 5 day treatment of prednisone for the swelling of the left side. I am currently experiencing an intermittent pain on the left side of my head which starts at my temple and radiates over and behind my left ear, down to my neck. Is this a symptom associated with my sinus infection? Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Sinus Infection may be due to bacteria or virus. If Symptoms not improved and the secretions not relieved, then it needs surgical drainage.

Use decongestant, antibiotics or anti-allergic medication. Please consult your ENT specialist so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
