What Causes Leg Pain While On Simvastatin?
I have been taking Simvastatin Tab 20mg for about 6 months to decrease chlolesterol levels. Blood test taken 3 months ago showed a marked improvement. About 2 weeks ago I began experiencing leg pain mostly in my right leg. While sitting still or standing, I have no pain. When walking quickly, pain increases. It resembles neuropathy pain which I experienced about 12 years ago. Could the Simvastatin be the cause of this pain? Thanks. Ann M.

Muscle pain is one of the possible side effects of statins eg simvastatin.
If it continues or it is severe then you may need assessment by your doctor. The medication may need to be discontinued to see if the pain stops.
If there is no change, then there may be another cause.
If it is related to the simvastatin then an alternative would be needed.
