Hi, I'm a 29 years old male. A lot of times when I wake up in the morning I feel very lethargic, heaviness feeling and maybe very slight dizziness. I checked my heart rate and it was fine, 118/81. But I realized my pulse is always 50 after checking several times. I understand that the normal rate should not fall below 60. May my low pulse of 50 have anything to do with the way I am feeling this morning? I'm not very athletic, but have a decent fitness level. I go on a run once a week regularly for the past few years now.
Hello, I read carefully your concern and understood your query. Your symptoms are suggestive for under active thyroid or hypothyroidism. It means that the thyroid does not produce enough hormones and the metabolism works slower causing; lethargy, feeling sleepy, low heart rate, constipation, difficulty in loosing weight ect. To confirm it you have to check; -TSH and FT4 level. If they result to be abnormal, do not hesitate to attach the result to get further suggestions. Kind regards, Dr.Mirjeta
