My period usually comes on early and is very heavy with painful cramps and blood clots. This month, it happens to be 3 days late with light bleeding, here and there. On the fourth day, I bleed only enough to not even fill up a pad. I ve only had minor abdominal pain but nothing major. What caused this to happen? I must add that I haven t started any meds, nor am I under any type of stress.
I can understand your concern. Heavy or light periods are just relative terms based on the amount of times you had to change pads/tampons or the days of bleeding. Normally about 60-70 ml of blood is lost during menstruation. If that deceases up to 40 ml, there is really nothing to worry about, especially when you have no other symptoms or discomfort. Sometimes, losing or gaining some weight or having digestive problems can reduce the bleeding.
I would advise you to observe your periods for next month. If they continue to be lighter, then you should visit a gynecologist for physical examination and further investigations.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic for your concern. Take care.
