What Causes Light Periods After Stopping Birth Control Pills?

Dear Doc, This is Rahima from Kuwait. My problem is that I got birth control pills for 9 months after the marriage. I stopped using them at the end of July. I had low blood flow during the past 2 months during periods but this month the periods are just normal. Do I have to consult a doctor here or should I wait for sometime.

Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,
Since the period this month were normal you need not worry about anything. Usually after stopping pills it takes 2-3 cycles for the flow to be normal and ovulation to occur.
The initial light periods could be due to withdrawal of hormones.
So do not worry, you need not be anxious about the light period especially since the latest one had been normal.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
