What Causes Light Periods And Spotting?

I have been on birth control for 4 months and I have missed pills before, but not this last month. We have frequent sex but he never cums in me. My gyno also said it possibly maybe hard for me to get pregnant. I started my period on the day I was supposed to be is extremly light and almost like spotting. Could I be pregnant?
