What Causes Light Periods Compared To Normal Periods?

I am 19 years. I have a query regrading my periods. I usually bleed for 6 days on my period and on first two days my blood is thick and flow is also heavy but this time its unusual. My period was on time but the flow was not too heavy not too light, it was okay and the blood was not thick for two days like usually it is. And also it only lasted for 4 days. I am sure it should not be related to pregnancy because i have always taken protection and there is no way of which i can think that i have been careless. Its just that i am still worried about this unusual period.
PLEASE HELP

Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Changes in the menstrual flow is completely normal. A number of factors affect the monthly cycles. Increased physical exercise, stress and lack of rest, dietary changes, excess travel and many other factors can cause lighter periods.

Kindly do not worry. The cycles will regularize in the following months. In case of similar menstrual flow in the following months, thyroid test and complete blood count can be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
